DEVI AJITH - THE ARTIST


DEVI AJITH

Devi Ajith is a versatile Artist who has been a  Malayalam Movie Actress , popular Malayalam TV Host and a Bharathnatyam Dancer.

Devi had begun her career in media hosting a popular song program ‘Pattu Petti ‘in Asianet Channel which made her  a household name. She continued with Asianet  for eleven years hosting many popular programs creating indelible image in the minds of Malayalis all over the world.

She had a stint with popular TV serials also under illustrious Directors. She acted in ‘Mannal Nagram’ highlighting lives of Gulf Malayalees directed by Shyama Prasad. ‘Nakshatrangal Ariyade’ directed by Shajiyem. ‘Sthreeum Parvam Navam’ directed by Adam Ayub.

Her short film ‘Cupid’ directed by Sohanlal Seenulal won her four awards where she was the sole actress in the movie with no other actor. She also acted in a short film directed by Rajesh Pillai  called ‘ Arikil Oraal Kude”.

Her early career in Malayalam commercial movies began with T K Rajeev Kumar’s Ivar(2002), which incidently was the first movie in Malayalam to be shot with a handycam . Devi’s portayal as ‘Reetha’ is still remembered. Another movie under same director ‘Seetha Kalyanam’ had shown Devi as a hapless wife . Her role in ‘Uttara’ directed by Sanil Kallathil brought fore her role as a Tamil lady in the movie bringing out her histrionical skills.

After a gap of six years she had a comeback with much talked about ‘Trivandrum Lodge’ scripted by Anoop Menon and directed by V K Prakash. Once again Devi caught the attention of Malayalam movie goers all across the world especially the youngster lot who had not seen her in her previous avatar. Her next has been ‘Immanuel’ directed by Lal Jose sharing screen space with Mammooty.


Few movies in which she has acted recently and under production are ‘Kaanchi’ directed by G Krishnakumar which has Indrajith and Murali Gopi too. A small presence in ‘Zachariyaude Garbanikal’ directed by Anish Anwar.

Her future projects are ‘The Motor Cyclke Diaries’ being directed by Rajesh Pillai. ‘Green Apple’ being directed by  Haridas . A Tamil movie by Kannan Taamrakulam.

 Devi is a well trained Bharathnatyam dancer since the age of five under  Nattugam Parmasiva Menon having given many stage performances including in London under Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

She has been awarded with ‘ Media Business and Arts’ (MBA) award by Events Arabia , Dubai in Feb  2013 for her contribution in  all three categories as she is also a self made fashion designer running a boutique each at Trivandrum and Chennai.
